DOCUMENTS REQUESTED

  • Visa application form, filled and signed
  • Forms

  • Form 790 - Cod 052
  • One photo, colour with white background
  • Original passport (and copy)
  • Financial means: bank statements, investments statements (and others docs if wanted).
  • Letter of insurance (must cover all the staying or the first year, if staying longer than that).
  • Police clearance, original apostilled (Hague Apostille by DIRCO**). Translated after being apostilled.
  • Medical certificate (use sample provided), stamped by HCPSA.
  • Proof of address (in South Africa)
  • Payment of fees. Visa fee and the fee for the residence permit (, the applicant must complete all the fields of, and sign, two copies of form 790 code 052, ticking box 2.1 (initial temporary residence permit).

*This period starts from the date that all the since all the documents have been submitted at BLS and received at the Consulate.

**DIRCO–APOSTILLE–WHY DIRCO: in South Africa DIRCO is the only institution that apostilled the signature of the certain document itself (police clearance and DHA’s certificates are some off them). Other institutions only legalized signature of notaries, commissioners of oats, translators, etc. and not the signature of the person who issued/signed the original certificate and that is why we cannot accept them.

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:

  • Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
  • Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
  • Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
  • Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre..
